A match made in hell.

"Frequency match zhaali pahije"... Someone said that to me once.
I dunno what the green area can be though... maybe the total amount of tears shed [by me of course] in litres :).

Friends

List of my friends in Bangalore I made for a friend [real live human being this one :)]. I missed Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle coz he was on my table.
They talk and tell wonderful stories. They are wiser than me, more emotional than me. Not afraid of sounding too intellectual or too sentimental. Best part - there is no way I can interrupt them :). They "begin at the beginning and go on till the end and then they stop". And they don't care what I think of them or what they have said. "Judge for yourself " they whisper. :) V cool that.

2 old MS Paint outputs...

1. Take MS Paint.
2. Take one bored Sanmitra.
3. Mix and blend well.
4. Click on 'Save to Disk Permanently'(unless you do that, the creation will be lost forever, and I mean forever. It happened once that I didn't click on 'Save to Disk Permanently', and I lost the work of art :'(. There' s no recover, no undo, no nothing. Gone forever. Like it never existed. Consider yourself warned.)

PS: MS Paint does not suck!

2 songs for friend...

2 songs for my friend who went through a good break up [which is bad because it makes it even harder for her to hate the guy or forget him since he wasn't really mean to her and plus in her opinion he looks very cute and has this innocent look always on his face and doesn't hurt birds and saves kitties from trees still and... eeks sorry]:
Song No. 1
Song No. 2

And try not to hear this song:
Song No. 3
[Which I'm stuck on unfortunately :P].

PS: more songs

2 beautiful compositions...

Meditation (from Thais ) - Jules Massenet.
Claire De Lune (from Suite Bergamasque)- Claude Debussy.

[The best links I could find on youtube for these.
Ideally to be heard:
Alone,
with your eyes closed and most importantly,
in pitch darkness].

PS: Again, I have been proved wrong... hitherto I dismissed classical music to be too boring, too slow, too wordless.

Things to do while compiling:

1) Read comics
2) Sleep/dream/ careful not to drool on keyboard or touch the keys even - wrong keys (Eg: Ctrl-C) will mean the end of your compiling.
3) Bug others who arent done coding yet. [Losers. Get a decent editor.]
4) Eat chips munching as noisily as u can. Like disturbing people in the theatre, this is as much fun.
5) Try imitating richard stallman [hand gestures n all].
6) Eat some more. something that smells so good it disturbs others. Ever been sittin n suddenly u get the smell of good ol' KF chicken ?!
7) Sword fighting from here- manager will frown def if he sees you but :(. And be careful not to kill someone.
8) Play catch. squash version does too. good if u got no cubicle mate to play with. will improve ur catch drop rate if you play cricket :). My fave this.
9) Blog your hidden thoughts feeling anguishes hopes fears etc etc. [Like people care.]
10) Stare like zombie at screen. Like Cyclops, maybe the rays from ur eyes will make it compile faster[NOT blow up the pc !]. Just like u tend to leave the loo fast when someone is outside and knocking! [sorry if crude].
11) Pray/ have a 'havan' so the compiler Gods say to ur compiler- go forth and multiply [ the errors and warnings and messages.]
12) No.1 is obv : write a blog post of "things to do while compiling".
13) Flirt. Is very dangerous if the other person takes everything seriously and then u might find urslef on a REAL date that evening! [U lucky bum u[considering how many 'chasmis' ppl actually go on REAL dates]].
14) Day dream. About your future plans. Eg: Should i go for manchurian or moumou today ? Hmmm....
15) Tweak around with the settings on the coffee machine. [If it aint broke, break it! ]
16) Check out funny profiles of people on shaadi.com .
17) Add contacts in your phone address book.
18) See the state of the Indian economy/politics [At least now x-(. C'mon. ]
19) Make braids of ur hair/or re-gloss ur nails...

Whoops gotta go. My compiling is done. If u know better things, do share...

....Almost forgot. 20) Orkutting/Facebooking whatever suits you.
21)AND playing NFS too. just dont get caught.

Memory of a midnight...

We usually spend slow Sunday nights pacing on the terrace, in the cool and teasing summer night breeze.
Once inside though, we end up arguing on many interesting things... One argument we had last Sunday:
Would we be happier if we could forget our pain ?
One of my friends[Lahens, the other being Lateehs] swears by this quote: The secret to happiness is a healthy body and a bad memory.
Me: Seems to make sense. If we cannot remember our pain, there is no reason for us to feel sad. It would last just for the one moment that the bad thing happened and the very next moment one would be happy again. Something like ignorance is bliss, though in a new context. (Being the eternal showoff I quoted Pope too):
Me: "How happy is the blameless vessal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;"
Explain, they said.
Me: I don't know really, I had heard that verse in a movie I had seen long back,'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' [PS: one of the best movies Ive seen till now].
[I tell them what happens in short].
Lovers who have fallen apart erase their memories of what happened and each other. The girl does it first;what exactly happens as the guy's memory is being erased is shown. He wants to keep a few happy memories he had of her. As each record of her is hunted down and killed, he remembers the old memories, the happy memories with her, but which will get erased too.
Me: So a point made, if you lose sad memories you will lose happy memories too. The same people who caused pain can have given you happiness too.
Argument from Lahens: Why erase memories of people ? Why not just incidents ?
Which I couldn't answer.
Lahens: Well, what happens finally ?
Me: The most interesting part was that the people who had undergone this procedure, ended up falling in love again with the very same people they had erased!Maybe it is the mystery of romantic love itself, inexplicable why we fall for the ones we do.Stuff like 'meant to be' or 'soul mates ' ?
Practical Lateehs: [Smiling] "Those who forget their past are doomed to re-live it".
Lahens: [Laughing] True. If you forget your mistakes you will repeat them. Falling for the wrong person too is a mistake isn't it ?
You learnt why he wasn't suited for you. If the memory, the lesson goes, you will have to learn it all over again.
So to answer my question, even if you erased just the bad incidents with him ,and kept the happy ones, you would wonder what went wrong ? Why aren't you with him now ?You would try again, and end up with the same bad experience !

Bottom line: If you forget your pain, you will be happy; but if you forget it you are doomed to re-live it, which will again make you sad.

Me: So what now? Things are perfect as they are now ? If we forget pain, we lose our chance to feel happiness too ? Happiness and sadness, both or none ?!
Lateehs: Hm...
Lahens: Seems perfect to me...
